RIP: Lee Alexander McQueen

Yesterday, Thursday 11th feb 2010 we lost an amazing designer, creator and icon.
Lee Alexander Mcqueen, Rest in peace xxx

"Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief, Vogue: "We are devastated to learn of the death of Alexander McQueen, one of the greatest talents of his generation. He brought a uniquely British sense of daring and aesthetic fearlessness to the global stage of fashion. In such a short career, Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing—from street style to music culture and the world's museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss."

Flowerpot Gig 28th Jan 2010

For my 21st birthday I wanted to create something I am passionate about... LIVE MUSIC! I'm not an event promoter or organiser in any sort. The closest i've come to organising live music is for radio! So this was quite a challenge.

The gig went really well. The Anti Rhythm Band Wagon - NOW: HOLDEN - were fantastic as usual.. With their folk rock foot stomping vibes, the soulful, melodic and meaningful lyrics take you on a journey. Holden deserve all the success and support possibe, thankfully they have a brilliant manager Kandice Holmes!

Not only did we have a brilliant live act but we had some fantastic DJs throughout the evening.
Fred Fernandez (Spun) kicked off the night followed by Pete Donaldson (Xfm), Sunta Templeton (Xfm), and Liam Young (Nme)

The Flowerpot is a great venue, since the change from Bullet bar.. the layout and the overall vibe helped towards a briliant night musically and socially.

I thank all that played, all that came down and the flowerpot for their amazing venue!

Organising a gig.

Wow, it's two days until my first organised event. I'm really excited however slightly scared. What if it all goes wrong? I've dj'd and organised live music before however this is a big jump.
It's been an enjoyable experience, I think I may look into doing gigs more often!

I've got three great djs , Fred (Spun Djs) , Pete (Xfm) & Sunta (Xfm). I've also got a band called The Anti Rhythm Band Wagon. (www.myspace.com/theantirhythmbandwagon)

The gig is also a joint birthday gig for myself and my close friend Edyta, which makes it even more special. However the event is open to the public and is free which is even better for the benefit of the band and djs.

I havn't really thought of a structure, i'm just planning everything around the live music at 9pm.

The gig is taking place at the Flowerpot. A great music venue!

Rachelle.
